Carsten Pieper Brilliant retro/symphonic/folky prog from Norway. Pastoralia was great, but I think I like this even better! This album sounds as if they made it for me, simply love it!

If you're imagining Mirage-era Camel with Norwegian woods, er, words, you'll might guess what to expect. At least, that's how I would describe it. Or just check the liner notes here. They nail it, too... Favorite track: Salighet II.

paliojen_black Understated masterpiece... progressive at its finest blended seamlessly with traditional folk melodies. Repeated listens reveal more detail. Personally, one of my favorites this year, along with the entire family of Norwegian prog. Favorite track: Sankeren.

Jordsjø is a duo from Oslo, Norway inspired by Scandinavian folklore via jazz to early British prog. Following in the tradition of some of the best Nordic rock from the last century, Jordsjø manages to meld progressive rock with fantastic melodies and a folkish twist.

“Salighet” is the band’s fourth proper studio album. Seven new tracks, making up what has to be one of the greatest prog albums of 2023. Here, Jordsjø continues their musical journey in the heights and abysses: With “Salighet” they explore different forms of ecstasy through compositions and lyrics. Be it in the shape of dance, a mountain hike, a fairytale, religious pondering or other kinds of inner travels, in a colourful symphonic folk-rock sound. The music is a counterpoint to the mundane everyday life, and longs for mystery and alternate realities – with grand dynamics and dramatics, always searching for a good melody. The album draws inspiration from Nordic jazz and folk music, classical 1900s music and sensory expanding 60-s & 70s rock, creating its own potent musical brew – unfashionable and unpolished.

This might be the least folky of the Wobbler releases and I wasn't sure about it at all. After a few listens however I'm loving the inventiveness and the endless melodies, all driven along by Kristian Hultgren's wonderful percussive bass. PartTimeZombie

Dette er et fantastisk verk hvor det synges på norsk! Det siste setter en spiss på det hele. Lydbildet er åpent og dynamisk og man føler seg hensatt til 1970-tallets progressive rock. Dette ble oppdaget helt tilfeldig da jeg skulle sette igang dagens dont på hjemmekontoret og hadde litt arbeidsvegring og sveipa innom Bandcamp. Så ble hjemmekontoret utsatt litt til da jeg så klart måtte høre hele greia..😉. Takk for en flott musikalsk opplevelse en vinterdag i januar 2024. Storvik

The new live EP by Ryan W. Stevenson's project reminded me, that this debut album must have been gone down the wishlist... If instrumental Canterbury stuff is your thing, this should be a no-brainer.
